Anthony Cohen is a Senior Lecturer in Social Anthropology at the University of Manchester, where he had taught since 1971. He previously held research and teaching positions at Memorial University of Newfoundland and Queen's University, Kingston, Ontario. He conducted fieldwork in Newfoundland (1968—70) and in Shetland since 1973. Major publications include The Management of Myths (1975), and numberous contributions to scholarly journals and symposia.
