Robert Paine is currently Henrietta Harvey Professor of Anthropology and Director of Publications, Institute of Social and Economic Research, Memorial University of Newfoundland. Since obtaining his doctorate in social anthropology at Oxford University, Dr. Paine has held teaching positions in Bergen, Oslo, and Newfoundland, and has been visiting scholar and guest lecturer throughout Canada, England, the United States, Australia, and Scandinavia. His current research interests include comparative political rhetoric and Newfoundland politics. Dr. Paine has published extensively in the field of social anthropology over the past twenty-five years.
