By MUPress Staff Date: June 15, 2020

Congratulations to the James Hiller! Robert Bond: A Political Biography has been jointly-awarded the 2020 Heritage and History Book Award, alongside Linden Macintyre's The Wake: The Deadly Legacy of a Newfoundland Tsunami.

The Heritage and History Book Award was established in 2004 to recognize authors publishing written works that exemplify excellence in the interpretation of the heritage and history of Newfoundland and Labrador.

Commentary from the award committee reads in part: “In this in-depth account and analysis of the role of Robert Bond in the politics of Newfoundland from the 1880's to the First World War, Hiller examines Bond's actions and motivations as a member of both the government and the opposition and ultimately as Newfoundland's prime minister. This is a political biography of a man but is is also a political history of a period of the life of Newfoundland."
