In a new foreword, Dr. Diane Tye calls Rieti's seminal study "an exemplary ethnographic text" which "highlights the voices and experiences of the people of Newfoundland and Labrador."

The fairies of Newfoundland oral tradition are variously envisioned, encountered and interpreted. Rieti's study keeps the narrators at centre stage, describing the specific contexts and manner in which fairy experiences are recounted, and offers a window into an extraordinary world.

Winner of the Raymond Klibansky Prize, Rieti’s study continues to enthral readers and researchers alike, and is now calling a new generation to get lost in the stories and traditions of Newfoundland and Labrador's fairies.
